Bonus posts were introduced to Feesch in October 2005.

Originally people were restricted to one post per board per day, but people wanted more. We added groups where you could post more, but they weren't always popular with everyone as there were too many posts. We needed some way of giving people the freedom to post more when needed, yet still impose some limits to stop people from flooding the boards with low quality content.

Bonus posts are intended to do just that, they will also hopefully eradicate the need for "editing", which used to disturb the flow of conversation by messing up the order of posts.

When you have used up all of your allotted posts for a board and you need to post again, you may use a bonus post. You can use a maximum of three bonus posts on one group in one day, and no more than ten across the site in one day. You will also have a finite amount (up to 100) of bonus posts to draw from which will be replenished monthly.

You can also be awarded bonus posts if you do something to benefit the site, or on special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.
